BOXING icon Manny Pacquiao is praying for undefeated American star Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the two boxers face off in a legal battle.
Pacquiao recently concluded a deposition hearing for his defamation suit against Mayweather and his uncle Roger. The Mayweathers have accused Pacquiao of using performance enhancing drugs in the past.
But Pacquiao said he is praying for his boxing rival.
“My prayer is for the Lord to touch his heart. I wish that he humbles himself and follow God’s commandment,” Pacquiao said in Filipino.
The eight-division world champion, appointed by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference as its “Bible ambassador,” even cited a Bible verse for Mayweather’s benefit.
“My favorite verse is Matthew 12:36-37. It says: ‘Everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word that they have spoken, for by your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned,’” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao also attended a star-studded gala in Las Vegas to celebrate boxing legend Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday.
He will make his return to the ring on June 9 against undefeated American fighter Timothy Bradley Jr. and plans to start training on April.
